The Arts Council of Greater Palatka would like to take this opportunity to announce that we have been awarded five State Touring Grants from the Division of Cultural Affairs. Each year we apply for these touring programs to be presented in our Putnam County schools. We are so pleased that once again this year the Putnam County School Board gave us the match money for these grants. Our thanks to all of the board for their continued support of the arts.

Florida Studio Theater Florida Studio Theater created their “Write a Play” program in 1991 to inspire creativity, promote literacy, strengthen language and communication skills, and instill an appreciation of the arts through quality playwriting and instruction in grades K-12. Through over a decade of positive outcomes, Florida Studio Theatre has proven the program’s effectiveness as a means of improving students’ self-esteem, school attitudes, and overall academic achievement. This high energy show utilizes both scripted performance and improvisational technique to teach students the basic tenets of setting, character, conflict, and dialogue. Using these key elements, Florida Studio Theatre’s team of actors/teaching artists lead students in the creation of an original play. All performances are accompanied by workshops that include individual instruction. http://www.floridastudiotheatre.org
