Oil Painting Classses with Pat Rausch
The
Arts Council invites you to sign up for the next session of Painting
with Patrick Rausch. We are so pleased to announce the continuation of
Patrick's painting class. Each month a different Florida landscape
subject is discussed and demonstrated. The demonstration subjects range
from seascapes, “back country” landscapes, old Florida cottages, to old
fishing villages, so don't miss signing up for the next painting class
with Patrick.
Oil Painting Class
New painting classes begin every 5 weeks and are held at the Larimer
Art Center on Tuesday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. . Classes are
offered to both first time painters as well as those with experience.
Call Patrick (352-685-9473) or Denise at the Larimer to find out when
the next class begins (386-328-8998).
The classes will last for four weeks. The fee for all four weeks is $40.00 .
The first class will consist of a demonstration showing how to begin an
oil painting. This will include a discussion on elements that make a
painting more pleasing to the eye (composition) , the mixing of colors,
and basic technique .
The art students can bring in a picture or subject that they would
like to paint, a painting already started at home, or they can paint
along with the instructor as he completes the painting over the four
week period. As the painting begins and develops, helpful suggestions
will be made on how to improve the painting.
The following supplies will be needed:
1. Set of basic oil colors(ultramarine blue, viridian green, yellow
ochre, cadmium yellow, burnt sienna, white, and alizarin crimson).
2. Two small glass jars with lids for mineral spirits(to clean brushes)
and linseed oil (to mix with the oil pigments).
3. The mineral spirits and linseed oil will be supplied.
4. A set of brushes
5. Stretched canvas , canvas board, or primed masonite panel. Not to be over 18”x24” for beginners
For additional information, call Patrick Rausch at 352-685-9473.

class will be a still life. This should be a great help for your visual
perceptive skills as well as a wonderful lesson in composition. I will set up
and artistically arrange objects to include in the painting. Still lifes can be
exciting.
The art students are encouraged to bring in a
