The Arts Council announces two art classes at the Larimer arts Center with instructor Luke Taft.  The first class is a portraiture painting in oils for adults.  Classes will start on July 6th and run for four weeks, class will be held each Tuesday from 10 AM to 1:00 PM cost for the month of classes is $40.00.  The Larimer Arts Center is located at 216 Reid St., Palatka.     Class #1adults, will learn to paint realistic portraits from photos.  The intent of this class is to provide general knowledge of how to develop skills in  Portraiture. Each participant will create a portrait from a photograph by following demonstrated techniques. Supply list will be given when you call to register. Both beginners and experienced are welcome.  

    Class #2 is Drawing classes for Youth, ages 8 to 13.  Classes will be held Monday through Thursday in August class time is 10:30 to 12:00 PM each day.  We hope you will join us for some summer fun in learning drawing fundamentals, perspective, composition, and technique. Cost is $40.00 for the week.
 

Luke is a painter/sculptor/craftsman in Palatka, Florida. His work includes contemporary furniture, kinetic sculpture, and surreal drawings and oil paintings with a focus on portraiture and the human form. Raised in the fertile back woods of Putnam County, Luke's appreciation for undisturbed natural beauty has driven his urge to interact with human materials in a way that preserves a high aesthetic standard. After receiving a degree in Fine Art from the University of New Mexico, Luke has returned to Florida to practice his craft and now teaches portraiture.
