The Arts Council of Greater Palatka promotes 8 to 10 gallery shows each year, from a wide variety of artists and media.
It is our goal to showcase many of our local artisans along with art from outside of Putnam County. In the past we have had Florida School of the Arts students, The Palatka Art League show, an all-county open art show for adults, and shows of artists who have had a major impact on the arts in Putnam County such as Grace Urqhart. Additional recent shows were Tiffany Sage and her family with several of her family members showing their art at the Larimer Galleries, and the Herschel Stallard and Friends water color show.
This year we had our first annual Lee Conlee House gallery show during Victim’s Awareness Month and are in the planning stages of our second show with the Conlee House.
One show we have had for several years is the “All County Student Art Show,” co sponsored by Seminole Electric Cooperative Inc. Through this partnership we are able to offer our galleries to all Putnam County students to display their works of art. We are so proud of the talented young artists that we have in our county. Last year we had over six hundred pieces of art displayed. Each year, Brenda Atkins and other volunteers from Seminole Electric Cooperative put on an awards breakfast for the young artists with ribbons and awards given out at this breakfast. It is so rewarding to see these young artists receiving acknowledgement of their work. We thank Seminole Electric Cooperative for partnering with the Arts Council to keep this event happening for the children in our community.
Due to renovations that are in progress to the upper level of the Larimer, our galleries will be dark until late summer or early fall 2008, at which time we will reopen and show our newly-painted galleries.
Our current gallery committee, Steve Crowley, Chairman, Evelyn Snyder, and Sheri Lowe are creating plans for upcoming shows that include a tattoo and art show, the All County Student Art Show, the Lee Conlee House show and more.

We would like thank the many volunteers over the years that have helped with our gallery shows, and we invite you to look through the pictures of some of the past gallery shows. |
